Transparency International Kenya through the support of AMKENI Wakenya UNDP short term grant on “Strengthening public accountability and integrity systems for accountable governance” seeks to support Journalists to carryout investigative stories relating to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The project “Enhancing transparency and accountability during the COVID–19 response effort” dubbed TRAC COVID-19, is designed to monitor government repose in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic in observing the rule of law and adhering to principles of integrity, transparency and accountability as enshrined in the Constitution.

The grant project period must be a maximum of 3 months. Individual journalists from Nairobi, Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi counties are encouraged to apply for this grant opportunity.

Publication Agreement

The purpose of the Action for Transparency grant is to enable you to investigate an issue that you would not have been able to pursue without financial support. The mutual agreement requires you to provide evidence that you have approached a media outlet about your story idea and that they have an intention to go ahead with publishing/broadcasting of the story upon completion. Please provide the below details:

i. Name of the media outlet where you frequently publish*

ii. Specify the type of the media outlet (newspaper, TV, radio, blog, online newspaper/magazine)*

iii. Name the media outlet where you anticipate to publish*

vi. Attach a signed and stamped letter from the editor stating his/her knowledge of your proposed story and an intention of publication. NB: Applications without an editor’s guarantee will not be excluded if the significance of the story is demonstrated in this application*
